چکیده

The increasing trendof constructing componentsmade of composite laminates is due tothe flexibility intailoring their properties and high strength-to-weight ratio. Nevertheless, most practical components involve cutout features for fastening these cutouts could significantly reduce the strength laminate. Due to its importance, many studies were conducted study effect circular however, there lack information regarding various shapes. Therefore, this aims investigate compressive failure behaviour Kevlar Epoxy Glass different shapes sizes with variation in fiber orientations. Finite element software, ANSYS used simulate deformation under load. Prior that, mesh convergence analysis numerical validation performed. Failure was (square cutout, diamond circular) size, based on Maximum Stress Theory. results show that existence have reduced up ten times laminated plates. This important when designing made compression.

Compressive Behavior of a Glass/Epoxy Composite Laminates with Single Delamination

The buckling and postbuckling behaviors of a composite beam with single delamination are investigated. A three-dimensional finite element model using the commercial code ANSYS is employed for this purpose. The finite elements analyses have been performed using a linear buckling model based on the solution of the eigenvalues problem, and a non-linear one based on an incremental-iterative method....

Effects of Sea Water on Glass / Epoxy and Kevlar/epoxy Composite Materials

Composite materials are being widely used in applications including marine industry where specific properties and corrosion resistance are required. Many applications have been mentioned for pipes systems on ships, offshore platforms and also for coastal engineering plant such as power stations and desalination installations. However, it was recognized that the optimum use of composite material...

Effect of Micro Glass Flake on Morphological and Rheological Behaviour of Epoxy Vinyl Ester Composite Coatings

In the present work, attempts were made to investigate the reinforcement and treatment effect of GF on morphological and rheological behaviour of GF/epoxy vinyl ester composites. GF was incorporated into epoxy vinyl ester resin by sonication, and mechanical agitation. Rheological and morphological properties were studied as a function of particle treatment and size distributions. The dispersion...

Moisture Diffusion Properties of Fabric Composite (Glass Fiber/Epoxy Resin)

In this study, the effect of hygrothermal conditioning on the moisture diffusion properties of the fabric composite (glass fiber/epoxy resin) was investigated. The water uptake of the specimens conditioned in humid environment at different relative humidities (0, 60 and 96 % r.h) at constant temperature (60°C) was evaluated by weight gain measurements. The moisture diffusion properties of the f...

Environmental Effects on Mechanical Properties of Glass/Epoxy and Fiber Metal Laminates, Part I: Hygrothermal Aging

In this article, the effect of hygrothermal aging on mechanical properties of fiber metal laminates (FMLs) and E-glass/epoxy (GE) composites is investigated. First, FML and GE specimens were built using wet lay-up technique under vacuum pressure. Hygrothermal aging simulation was then carried out on both specimen types in distilled water at a constant temperature of 90 °C for 5 weeks. The resul...
